Gratitude as part of you daily inventory

Gratitude

Most days, feeling grateful isn't at the top of my mind and it takes effort to bring it there. Usually not much effort, about the same as changing the TV channel, but still a conscious decision. Occasionally, it's big and obvious: vacationing on a gorgeous beach or while sharing a delicious meal with family and friends; then it feels like life couldn't get any better.

But there are the days when gratitude is nowhere to be seen.

Shining light on what we're grateful for

When it feels like there's nothing to be thankful for, or other feelings are crowding out any possibility of gratitude, it helps to get down to basics: I think about writing this right now, and about how reading and writing have enriched my life. Many people have never had the opportunity to learn to read. I’m so lucky, so grateful that someone taught me. Or maybe you are navigating these words with a screen reader or assistive technology. Consider how amazing is it to live in a time that makes this available to you?

Without acknowledging gratitude we're only seeing an incomplete part of our journey.

DailyInventory.net asks you to name three things that you're grateful for every day. Some days it will be easier, some days harder. But it always deepens how you understand your journey.
